Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction to students with diverse learning needs and collaborate with teachers to ensure inclusive educational experiences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities
● Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
● Collaborate with general education teachers to implement accommodations and modifications
● Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and IEP documentation
● Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress
● Facilitate IEP meetings, parent conferences, and participate in staff meetings
● Supervise and train paraprofessionals working with special education students
● Stay current with special education laws, regulations, and evidence-based practices
Qualifications
● Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's preferred)
● Valid Colorado teaching license with Special Education endorsement
● Experience working with elementary-aged students with diverse learning needs
● Knowledge of current special education laws and best practices
● Strong organizational and time management skills
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
Preferred Skills and Experience
● Experience with inclusive education models
● Training in specialized instructional methods (e.g., Sonday, DIBELS 8, Edmark)
● Knowledge of positive behavior intervention supports (PBIS)
● Experience with assistive technology and specialized curriculum
