Our Mission

In June 2015, more than 100 educators from 25 participating districts gathered in Pueblo to define and design ideas for the Collaborative that are scalable, sustainable, and doable—and will most importantly help advance opportunity, quality, and prosperity in Colorado. Today, the CREC has 83 participating districts collaborating across the state.

The Collaborative centers its work around three high-impact innovation priorities:

OPPORTUNITY

Expand rural student and teacher access to educational resources that fit their personal aspirations, skills, and learning dynamics.

  • ICAP implementation

  • Professional development

  • Blended learning

  • Concurrent enrollment

  • Student engagement, wellness, and social/emotional learning

QUALITY

Enhance rural teacher and principal access to systems of support that advance their capability, leadership, and impact.

  • Teacher preparation, recruitment, and retention

  • Teacher practice networks

  • BOCES professional learning systems

PROSPERITY

Enrich rural community access to assets that advance education and economic development for local benefit.

  • Mutual school and community enhancement projects

  • Advanced career technical education and technical certifications

  • Education-to-industry pipelines

The Collaborative is made up of school districts and their supporting Board of Cooperative Education Services (BOCES).
