Length of Contract/Terms of Employment: December 22, 2024-July 30, 2025
Salary & Benefits: Prorated Salary Range $43,979 to $76,964, Employee Benefits Package
Anticipated Start Date: December 23, 2024

Position Summary: The Transportation Coordinator oversees the day-to-day operations of the transportation department. 

Position Responsibilities: 
• Develop and implement transportation schedules for daily routes, auxiliary routes, and special education transportation. 
• Implement and monitor bus safety and parent notification technology systems.
• Schedule athletics and activities transportation requests. 
• Oversee fleet maintenance and service. 
• Maintain transportation records in compliance with all local, district, state, and federal regulations and procedures.
• Perform bus driver responsibilities, as needed.
• Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and training of bus drivers, and bus monitors. 
• Assist in the development of the transportation budget.
• Supervise the transportation training program for bus drivers and small vehicle drivers. 
• Curriculum and the school bus safety programs.
• Collaborate with principals on bus safety programs and student disciplinary referrals.
• Provide recommendations to the Superintendent on inclement weather schedules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Ability:
• Knowledge of CDOT and DOT rules and regulations, commercial driver’s license rules and regulations, Colorado Motor Vehicle codes, CDE operational rules, and FCC regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
• Understanding of school transportation fleet and general vehicle maintenance.
• Ability to manage bus safety software systems.
• Ability to lead and supervise others.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma
• Criminal background check required for hire
• Valid Colorado driver’s license
• Pass the DOT physical and safe driving record check
• Commercial driver’s license (CDL) with Class B and P2S endorsement
• CPR and First Aid certifications required within 60 days after hire
• Must be 21 years of age

Preferred Qualifications:

• Postsecondary coursework in business administration, transportation, or a related field. 
• Five or more years experience as a school bus driver.

o 1/3 to 2/3: working near moving mechanical parts. 

Vision Demands:

• Required: close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

o Moderate exposure level.
