Salary: Salary placement on our Certified Salary schedule is dependent on the employee’s education and/or work experience. Certified/licensed employees will be granted one (1) year for each full year of contractual and/or work experience up to a maximum of ten (10) years, which includes in-district and out-of-district contractual teaching and/or work experience. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Required:
• Valid Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsement or ability to obtain.
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. 

JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective:
Platte Valley High School seeks a dynamic and experienced special education instructor to inspire and educate students. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for teaching and working with students, a strong understanding of special education law, and the ability to create engaging learning experiences. 

Essential Functions and Characteristics:
Instruction: 
• Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with state and national standards. 
• Deliver engaging and effective instruction in computer science and mathematics courses. 
• Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, discussions, hands-on activities, and technology integration. 
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student curiosity and critical thinking. 

Curriculum Development: 
• Stay current with special education trends and advancements. 
• Develop and update curriculum materials to ensure they are relevant and engaging. 
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary learning opportunities. 

Student Assessment: 
• Design and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress. 
• Work with appropriate parties to have state testing accommodations approved and implemented.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback to students. 
• Utilize data-driven strategies to inform instruction and improve student outcomes. 

Professional Development: 
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge. 
• Stay current with emerging technologies and educational best practices. 

Student Supervision: 
• Create, implement, oversee, and coordinate with stakeholders in the development of student IEPs based on students’ needs. 
• Supervise students in the classroom and during extracurricular activities. 
• Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment. 
• Adhere to school policies and procedures.
