Human Resources Generalist / Guest Teacher Coordinator

The Human Resources Generalist provides support to district employees from first application to end of employment. This position plays an important role in recruiting and retaining quality employees, positively supporting all district staff, and orienting employees to district culture. This position is a member of the district Human Resources team, working to ensure smooth daily operations, positive experiences for staff, and maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.

The district's three HR Generalists work on behalf of all employees, but each specializes in a different subset of staff: certified staff, classified staff, and guest teachers. This position directly supports substitute teachers and athletic coaches

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Receives direct supervision from the Chief of Human Resources.

PRIMARY DUTIES

SUBSTITUTE TEACHER DUTIES:

Manage and maintain Frontline Absence Management system for all guest teachers and guest paraprofessionals; make all initial contacts with principals, school secretaries and Guest Teachers regarding assignment. Assist sites in making phone calls and filling substitute positions when needed.

Maintain all records on Guest Teachers; organize and maintain complex filing systems and records.

Respond to requests from the public or potential applicants regarding Guest Teacher policies or programs.

Keep all records of Guest Teacher days for payroll purposes; compile statistical information on absences to prepare reports on absences at all schools; verify Guest Teacher hours with schools for payroll.

Review employment applications for completeness and conformance with regulations and District policies; conduct interviews with interested applicants; verify employment references.

Process all personnel action forms for Guest Teacher teachers; prepare new orientation packets; conduct new employee orientation and ensure all new employee forms are completed and turned in.

Monitor, verify and track the current licensure of all Guest Teachers.

Conduct District in-service and training for all new Guest Teachers.

Recommend revisions of policies or procedures; assist in updating and maintaining all policies related to Guest Teachers; communicate with each school regarding issues or concerns relating to Guest Teachers.

Observe Guest Teachers teachers in the classroom; provide feedback when needed; assist building principals in discipline concerns or issues.

Perform other HR duties as assigned.
