South Routt School District is seeking a 5th Grade Elementary Classroom Teacher at South Routt Elementary in Yampa, for the 2024-25 school year.  Qualified candidates will possess a current Colorado Teaching License or able to secure one.  Salary range as of 6/6/2024 is $48,991-$ 87,100 based on education and experience.

Area Information...
The South Routt School District is located 17 miles south of Steamboat Springs and 73 miles north of Vail, Colorado.  We serve a number of small rural communities from Stagecoach to McCoy along Highway 131.

In the springtime, expect to see new calves dotting the pastures along Highway 131, which connects Toponas, Yampa, Phippsburg and Oak Creek.  Let your eye follow the cottonwoods down the path of the river, listen for the coal train’s whistle as it works up and down the valley.

In summer, hike the scenic trails of the National Forest and Flattops Wilderness Area just above Yampa, or enjoy fishing, mountain biking and swimming around Stagecoach Reservoir.  For an extra helping of Western heritage and community flavor, be sure to catch Yampa’s Fourth of July parade.  Afterwards, enjoy the old fashioned celebration in the park, including BBQ, races and games – all before the cowboys and cowgirls mount their horses for the annual polo match on Moffat Avenue.

The Yampa Valley is known for its show of autumn colors.  The quaking aspen trees turn spectacular gold, along with the red oak brush and evergreens, displaying the exceptional beauty that makes locals anticipate fall as a favorite time of year.  Also, don’t miss the historical Labor Day celebrations in Oak Creek, a fun-filled weekend of parades, food, and entertainment for all.

In winter, the valley is blanketed in snow providing a pristine backdrop for skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, snow machining, and sledding as well as skating and hockey on the town rinks in Oak Creek and Yampa. Small, active communities tucked into the Rockies are the heart of South Routt County.

Being close to Steamboat Springs provides South Routt County with shopping and access to world class arts and entertainment. The communities of Oak Creek and Yampa provide many shops and restaurants for local entertainment. A state-of-the-art, full service hospital is located in Steamboat Springs and the South Routt Medical Center in Oak Creek currently offers services five days a week.
