Terms of Employment: Full-time, Administrator Contract based on 
School Calendar: Approximately 200 days/year

Range of Pay: $75,000 - $100,000 based on experience; Stipend for A.D. starting at $6500.

About the Position:
Elbert School District #200 is a K-12 public school servicing approximately 280 students and their families in western Elbert County, Colorado. We are located in the unincorporated town of Elbert just east of Castle Rock. 

The desired applicant will be serving as Principal to secondary students in grades 6-12 as well as performing the duties of athletics director. Athletic director is not required but is preferred.

Qualifications for Principal:
• Master’s Degree in Education.
• Two plus years experience as a Principal or in a school leadership role preferred.
• Principal License required.
• Valid State Certification required.
• Ability to manage all aspects of the school, which include but are not limited to instruction; curriculum; staff supervision and evaluation; staff development; student discipline; record-keeping; public relations; and maintenance of buildings and grounds.
• Knowledge of curriculum and principles of learning. 
• Knowledge of technology and computer software to track students and their progress towards established standards. 
• Ability to verbally communicate clearly and concisely. 
• Ability to weigh options, think clearly and evaluate accurately. 
• Ability to understand and facilitate the needs of various personality types. 
• Ability to make decisions with sound judgment. 
• Ability to develop a plan and make decisions to facilitate its fulfillment.
• An understanding of the psychological and physiological development of children. 
• Strong concentration skills to function effectively with numerous interruptions. 
• Must be persuasive, alert, and creative, as well as have patience, initiative, and reasoning skills. 

Specific Duties:
• Keeps or causes to be kept, accurate personal records for all students including cumulative student records, grades, attendance, behavior issues, etc. 
• Provides for and supports a safe and orderly school environment. 
• Administers disciplinary measures in the school that are required by policy and state law. 
• Keeps all staff members advised of disciplinary measures. 
• Keeps records on all disciplinary measures taken. 
• Recommends to the Superintendent expulsion of students whenever behavior necessitates.
• Helps supervise non-certified personnel; including secondary teachers, paraprofessionals, front office staff, custodians, and lunchroom personnel who work within the building. This responsibility includes making recommendations to the Superintendent for promotion, demotion, transfer, or termination of all such personnel. 
• Helps supervise and evaluate all instructional personnel and provides assistance whenever needed to facilitate academic growth. 
• Makes recommendations of contract status, re-employment, or termination of contract for all instructional personnel. 
• Makes recommendations for curriculum changes and the implementation of curriculum changes. 
• Manages the various school improvement processes. 
• Keeps the Superintendent, Board of Education, school, and public informed of the education program and progress within the school. 
• Coordinates with Assistant Principals and Superintendent to plan and implement Staff Development Program for all personnel.
• Helps supervise all student activities and programs within the school.
• Helps supervise all instructional staff in regard to the health, safety, and welfare of students and employees. 
• Attends all administrative meetings and implements program suggestions or changes.
• Assumes responsibility for recruiting and retaining quality staff.
• Works to develop and sustain a quality curriculum, aligned with Colorado state standards.
• Assists in the development and implementation of instructional processes. 
• Attends special education meetings as necessary. 
• Holds periodic meetings of all instructional staff to keep them informed and advised of duties, policies, and possible curriculum changes. 
• Strives to create a climate of positive relations with and between all personnel in the school and between the school and home.
• Reviews educational practices, materials, and curriculum and promotes the use of "Best Practices. 
• Assists in drafting and updating student and staff handbooks to include information for staff, students/parents, schedules, district policies, and other pertinent information. 
• Screens requests for materials and supplies to determine the relationship of the materials to the program. 
• Creates within the school a climate of freedom to allow staff members and students to develop and perform to the extent of their capabilities.
• Helps initiate and maintain a School Improvement Plan consistent with Colorado Department of Education (CDE) accreditation. 
• Involves staff and parents in the CDE accreditation process. 
• Collects and maintains records and data required for CDE accreditation and completes all required forms for the process.
• Assists with the administration of the lunch program within the building.
• Provides timely and straightforward communications with parents and the community.
• Assists with the development and distribution of school report cards.
• Uses appropriate software to communicate, track students and data, and complete forms. 
• Knows and follows federal and state laws and district policies and regulations.
• Administers the budget and ensures that all monies collected and disbursements made are properly accounted for. 
• Builds and maintains the master schedule. 
• Periodically conducts fire, tornado, and crisis drills. 
• Provides for the supervision of summer school. 
• Performs other duties as assigned, including but not limited to:
o Public relations and communications.
o Attends and responds to district committee meetings. 
o Attends and supervises student-centered events, as well as student activities. 
o Assists in the planning and conducting of ceremonial activities. 

Qualifications for Athletic Director:
• Must possess some experience as a coach at the secondary school or college level. 
• Must possess a thorough knowledge of the regulations governing Colorado high school athletic programs and CHSAA bylaws. 
• Must possess the ability to organize and manage a high school athletic program and supervise/train coaching staff. 
• Must possess the ability to maintain accurate records and prepare related reports.
• Must possess organizational, leadership, and communication skills. 
• Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff members, and the public.

Specific Duties for Athletic Director:
• Administers and implements the overall athletic program. 
• Assists in the supervision of coaches assigned to the school; and acts as a liaison between the school’s administrative staff and the coaching staff. 
• Mentors coaches to CHSAA state, regional, and district regulations governing the athletic program. 
• Monitors and checks student/athlete eligibility.
• Ensures compliance with NCAA Clearinghouse regulations regarding the academic eligibility of student-athletes in conjunction with school counselors.
• Works with coaches, teachers, and the school’s guidance department to ensure that athletics do not interfere with students’ academic performance. 
• Schedules and coordinates athletic events and practices to include preparation of facilities, arrangement of transportation, and clean up. 
• Communicates with coaches and sponsors regarding transportation needs and submits transportation requests.
• Assumes responsibility for the employment and authorization of payments to temporary personnel (e.g. game officials) utilized for athletic events, and arranges volunteers as needed. 
• Supervises and attends home athletic events and other athletic events as required. 
• Processes requests for the use of the school’s athletic facilities by outside groups. 
• Arrange and coordinate special athletic events for the school including award presentations, pep rallies, and athletic fundraising projects. 
• Promotes the school’s athletic program by communicating with booster clubs, the media, etc. 
• Coordinates the scheduling of student physicals with medical personnel. 
• Represents the Elbert School at district/league athletic meetings. 
• Assumes responsibility for the inspection and maintenance of the school’s athletic equipment and facilities to ensure the safety of participants and spectators. 
• Maintains records on the school’s athletic program including eligibility lists, insurance lists, equipment inventories, awards, rosters, lettering history, school records, etc.; and prepares related reports. 
• Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
• Manages athletic budget and spending including CHSAA and BFL dues, officials’ payments, and uniform rotation.
• Coordinates with local youth programs, so that all entities can share the facility without conflict.

Physical Demands: Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; to operate a computer; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors, and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height; and to bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk and to reach overhead. 

Work Environment: Works primarily in a clean, comfortable, safety-oriented school environment. Occasionally exposed to extreme and changing weather conditions. Supervision of both indoor and outdoor activities is required.
Equipment Used: Standard business and professional tools and equipment. This position may require the employee to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
