Salary: $50,661 - $61,120.
Salary placement on our classified salary schedule is dependent on the employee’s education and/or work experience. Non-licensed employees will be granted one (1) year for each full year of work experience and/or educational attainment up to a maximum of ten (10) years. Responsibility for verification of outside experience shall rest with the individual employee. Additional days may be added to the notice of assignment at the request of administration based on need with approval from the CFO/COO or Superintendent of Schools. Click here for more information.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
One of the Following Items is Required to Meet Early Childhood Teacher Qualifications
Required:
• Associate’s Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing Required
• Active Colorado Nursing License
• Ability to Obtain CDE School Nurse License and Child Care Health Consultant License
• Certified in Basic First Aid, CPR, and AED
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective:
The Platte Valley School District Nurse will provide high-level care and services to students and their families across all schools PK-12th. Accordingly, the successful individual will have a desire to work with and help youth ages 3-20 to access the health services needed to be successful.
Essential Functions and Characteristics:
• Adheres to the Colorado Nurse Practice Act.
• Ensures that the health needs of students and staff are met during the school day.
• Provides management of students with chronic health conditions including medication administration, and delegation of tasks.
• Confidentially maintains student records, including cumulative health files, emergency cards, and documentation in the electronic medical record (Alma).
• Complies with HIPPA.
• Manages communicable disease outbreaks and required notifications.
• Directs the immunization program.
• Oversees the health screening program including vision and hearing.
• Develops and implements health care plans.
• Performs monthly checks on AEDs across the district and ensures they are in operating order.
• Provides health promotion education to all grade levels in cooperation with teachers.
• Serves as the liaison between teachers, administrators, parents, coaches, athletic trainers, community members, and health care providers.
• Provides care of acute health care needs including emergencies.
• Participates in the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Team and assists with “return to learn” and “return to play” protocol.
• Directs and promotes the Staff Wellness Program.
• Assists with creating policies and procedures related to health care issues.
• Conduct health assessments for Special Education (IEP) and 504 evaluations.
• Participates in the identification process of children with special needs as a part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Serves as the Homeless Liaison to identify and assist homeless students.
• Maintains the health offices including equipment and supplies.
• Coordinates attendance follow-up procedures with Principals.
• Supervises the Health Aid, and delegates tasks within the scope of practice. Team player willing and able to be involved in the programmatic, co-curricular, and/or extra-curricular programs available in the school district.
• Establish and maintain an effective partnership with the building principal and district leadership.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
