The district is looking for an Assistant Superintendent to support the Superintendent and Board of Education in ensuring all curriculum and instructional programs are of high quality. The individual will report directly to the Superintendent. The individual will collaborate with building principals to ensure a guaranteed and viable curriculum for all students–preschool through 12th grade.
The development of the certified faculty will be the primary responsibility of this individual, including professional development, licensure, mentoring, curriculum adoption, and best practices in pedagogy. This individual will work closely with principals to ensure faculty are offering quality lesson plans and effectively using instructional minutes. This individual will oversee the district-certified staff evaluation system. Previous building principal experience is required. The individual is to ensure all state-level reports and data are compliant and timely. The individual will lead the implementation of all state testing and all local assessments to monitor the performance of students, keeping the Board of Education informed. The individual will oversee the implementation of all special populations, including Culturally and Linguistically Diverse, Alternative Education, and Gifted and Talented. If the Superintendent is unavailable, then the assistant Superintendent will perform executive decision-making. This position requires a high degree of collaborative communication and leadership. It also requires substantial organizational and time management skills. Written reports require a skill set that allows for efficiency and accessibility. A high level of autonomy is expected with equal amounts of self-management.
