OVERVIEW
Bayfield School District is seeking a full-time Director of Technology to oversee all day-to-day functions of the Technology department.
Bayfield School District is located in the mountains of Southwest Colorado and is a short drive to Purgatory Resort, Wolf Creek Ski Area, and historic Durango. La Plata County is a world-class environment for outdoor enthusiasts with miles of trails for hiking and biking, wild rivers for rafting, breathtaking lakes for fishing and boating, and winter ski opportunities to complete 12 months of recreation. QUALIFICATIONS
● Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate for this position (Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Management, Educational Technology, or other equivalent disciplines), preferred.
● Strong understanding and experience working with MS Servers and Active Directory management, Hyper-V, wired and wireless networking, Linux systems, IP phones, Google Admin, Google Classroom, PowerSchool, Clever, website management, Lightspeed filtering, virus protection, print management, and staff training.
● Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to narrow down the cause of an issue and determine a solution.
● Maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license.
● Submit fingerprints for a criminal background check.
● Completed and submitted BSD online application.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

● Coordinate with appropriate school personnel in use of various technology resources.
● Update and maintain the district’s technology plan.
● Serve as a liaison with community agencies and local governments.
● Provide effective professional development opportunities for all staff members around new and existing systems.
● Responsible for new hire technology orientation and distribution of district equipment, ensuring all new staff members have what they need on day one
● Respond to a variety of questions from site staff for the purpose of providing information, guidance, or referral.
● Authorizes permissions and individual access to technology applications or services to ensure proper access to technology systems by staff, students, parents, and others consistent with district operating guidelines and regulations.
● Directs the installation of technology systems and tools (e.g. hardware, software, systems, wiring, specialized applications, and tools).
● Maintains technology equipment and systems (e.g. telephone systems, surveillance cameras, software applications) to ensure that systems are functioning properly and effectively in support of district administrative and educational operations.
● Monitors technology budget and expenditures. Confirm that allocations are accurate and expenses are within budget limits and that fiscal practices and Board of Education policies are followed.
● Oversees functioning of the technology operations of the district Supervises assigned technology staff (e.g. hiring recommendations, interviewing, training, evaluations, etc.).
● Supports the implementation of operational and educational technology initiatives (e.g. new systems, educational programs, hardware)
● Provide oversight of projects and/or training and providing information to others to ensure successful implementation.
● Tests technology applications, tools, and programs to provide feedback for the administrative decision processes, to ensure appropriate acquisition of educational and operational technology solutions and to assist others with these functions.
● Follow State legal requirements and District and building policies and procedures.
● Work collaboratively with staff members and the community.

● Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees, and others.
● Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and others contacted in the course of work.
● Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
● Demonstrated ability to communicate with and work well with all levels within an organization specifically working effectively within the culture and processes used in educational organizations.
● Strong project management skills, and drive to meet organizational and departmental objectives; ability to manage projects on interrelated timelines.
● Knowledge of classroom technology including SmartBoards, Promethean Board, Interactive Displays, document cameras, sound systems, projectors, cameras, etc. a strong plus.
SALARY
Per the Bayfield School District Non-Licensed Salary Schedule based on education and years of experience.
